Power of Healing: Lemony Fresh

I am so excited to share this recipe with you! As you know I am a proud product from Ecuador (big smile) and we use this particular salsa for everything back home. You can add it to any dish -appetizers mainly- and let me assure you that it will change the taste of your dish, in the yummiest possible way. In this recipe, I used Lemon Essential Oil, from doTERRA, and it is one of my favourite essential oils.

Lemon essential oils have been in this earth for some many hundreds of years. It has countless benefits and uses too. Let’s talk first about the benefits and then a bit of history (I love history!).

Benefits, History, & Use

Lemon EO benefits are countless and it is recognized widely for its cleansing properties, uplifting mood, and energizing taste. Top 5 benefits for this rockstar EO:

♥ Purifies and cleanses surfaces, fruits, vegetables, and air from allergens and bacteria.
♥ Supports the digestion system and elimination of toxins.
♥ Helps to improve the respiratory system.
♥ Promotes a positive mood.
♥ Used internally (veggie caps) to reduce symptoms of pollen allergy in the environment.

Used by Egyptians and Romans in the old days to treat infectious diseases, lemon essential oil became so popular that it was introduced to many cultures. When it was introduced into the Americas, people used lemon EO for its anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties, which allowed many people to be treated and notice amazing results. Due to its chemical components, we can perceive the cleaning, invigorating, and purifying qualities. Nowadays, we can use lemon essential oil in aromatherapy, home cleaning products, cosmetics, dietary supplements, natural purifier, and so much more.

How do I use Lemon Essential Oil?
Personally, I use lemon eo at the moment in 4 different ways:
Water & Lemon EO, one of the multiple nutritional benefits is that it helps in maintaining the pH balance of the body, it is a great source of vitamin C.
Allergy pill, after a year and a half living in Vancouver, my skin started to react to due pollen and different environmental allergens. I tried many things and I decided to give this a go! In a veggie cap (empty vegan capsules) I mix 2 drops each of Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint EO. I took 2 pills for 4 days and happy to report that I have no more hives, my respiratory system is opened and my skin is reacting unbelievably well.
Cooking, when a recipe calls for lemon, I used 1 or 2 drops in the dish I am preparing -my salsa recipe below-.
House cleaning, the antiseptic attribute makes lemon a perfect ally to clean many surfaces in my home. I add 10 drops in 1lt of water and use it to clean everything at my house. I use it to clean my silverware and remove sticky residue off surfaces. Also, to clean the walls that are really dirty.
